New Features and enhancements available in version 4.1.3:

NOTE: New Visa/MasterCard merchant rules:have been enacted that change the way customer credit card data can be displayed and stored for all Internet transactions. Shopping-Q v4.1.3 has been updated to be in compliance with those new rules. If you are currently running an older version, you need to upgrade your store to be in compliance with their new rules. If not, you may be fined or possibly have your merchant account suspended or terminated. It's important for all stores to upgrade to be in compliance with the new rules.

V4.1.X NOTE: the Main Menu has been changed in this version. Two new menu items which are used for setting up and controlling PayPal web payments and Google Checkout. These two items change the required menu items that must be completed before your store is operational. For existing stores, you will need to access your main menu and complete these two new menu items as soon as you upgrade to V4.1.x

Shopping-Q now supports the use of Google Checkout as an integrated payment processing system

A major new feature has been added to the Main Menu called "Email Request Forms". In an effort to complete Shopping-Q's web site generation features, we have added the ability to setup an unlimited number of "web forms" for obtaining information from your customers and having the data sent to you via emai.

A new feature has been added to Store Preferences section of the Main Menu. It's called "Email Shopping List to a Friend

A bug has been fixed in the Restore Backup feature on the Main Menu

Administrative sections of the store for Departments, Categories, and Sub-Categories have been changed to support a new Email Request Form Type of Hyperlink.

Coupon codes admin section has been cosmetically changed

The store now checks a secondary location for the include file "isp_link.txt"

A new option has been added to Store Preferences for basic web page counters

Features and enhancements continued:

Members Only Store section of the Main Menu has been cosmetically changed to make it easier with which to work

The USA and Non-USA Shipping Methods, Zones, and Calculations sections of the Main Menu have been cosmetically changed to make them easier with which to work

When adding a product to the shopping cart, the store now checks the length of memo box input fields to insure they do not exceed the max length prescribed for that product option

The Store Preferences section of the Main Menu has been changed to allow you to edit the HTML used for the ADD ITEM TO CART BY SKU feature

Upgrading requires installing the new version over the old version you have now and then resetting any permissions as needed. This is just like installing a new store except this install is done over-the-top of the old store. You won't lose anything in the store as a result of the upgrade. We only upgrade the programs, skins, and admin pages in a new version. We never touch the database, orders, or uplaoded images. If your store is using the Remote SSL feature for collecting credit card data, don't forget to upgrade the Qstore_remote_ssl.cgi program in the Remote SSL directory for your store. If you are using Local SSL (with your own SSL cert) or one of the supported credit card processing companies, you do not need to worry about upgrading the Qstore_remote_ssl.cgi program.

Steps to take:

Create a backup of your store files and save them:
Log in to your Store Admin, go to BACKUP/RESTORE and click BACKUP. Backup the files. Click on the link to download a copy. We recommend that you back up your store files regularly, even when you do not upgrade the product.
You only need to backup the skins if you modified them. If you created a new skins called Skin99 as suggested in the directions, then download a copy of those files with FTP.)
